A Flutist’s Journey: Landscape, Myth & Culture

  • Missouri River Regional Library 214 Adams Street Jefferson City, MO, 65101 United States (map)

We typically think of the flute as an orchestral instrument - one small part of a sea of sound. Or you may associate the flute with an accompanying instrument, such as the piano, guitar or harp.

A Flutist's Journey will display the flute in a unique setting - one where it is played alone.

No accompaniment, no orchestra.

Instead, Katie will use the flute’s broad range of tone color, style, and technique to showcase its unique soloing and storytelling capability.

During the evening, you will travel with her through the history and landscapes of our Native Americans, eastward to explore folklore and myth, and finally - a jazzy return home through the Latin roots of South America.

Come experience this solo flute program in the intimate setting of the Missouri River Regional Library’s art gallery. Works by artist Bob Colvin will be on display for you to enjoy before and after the program.

Admission is FREE - Hope to see you there!
