About Katie

Flutist Adventurer Writer

Music that tells a story

My mission is to weave together flute music and outdoor adventure to create a unique and inspiring musical experience.

Professional Life as a Musician

After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Music in Education from Missouri State University (2005), I began my career as an instrumental music teacher and launched a private flute studio that remains active today.

Continuing my education, I then completed a Master’s Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2013), studying with Professor Alice Dade and performing with the University Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Flute Choir.

Since then, I have performed with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra (2012 - Present), Odyssey Chamber Music Series (Vivaldi Piccolo Concerto, 2019), Howard & Smyth Flute & Guitar Duo (2017 - 2022) and the Southside Philharmonic Orchestra (2017-2019).

I’ve also enjoyed collaborating with a variety of chamber musicians to provide music for weddings, festivals, recitals, and other special events.

And what inspires my personal life and music:

Based in Missouri & available to perform across North America
